Quality check requirements at origin for Kenya
As per current law on importation of all cargo into Kenya, requires all used cars undergo quality inspection checks through an appointed agency whose contract with the Kenya government “standards” ministry, facilitates issuance of a road-worthiness certificate – QISJ

By law, Kenya drives on left hand side of the road, so all vehicles are Right Hand-driven. The standard age on import requirement for motor vehicles is eight (8) years from the date of first registration. Furthermore, the time between the date of first registration and the year of manufacture MUST not exceed 12 months.

Apart from verifying your car’s road-worthiness, the companies will verify that no tampering or modifications were made on your car’s odometer. Detection of a discrepancy between regulatory and the supporting documents and the reading of the odometer during the inspection will lead to failure. A Non-Conformity Report (NCR) will be issued and the vehicle will not be allowed to enter Kenya.

We include this cost as an all-inclusive price with freight delivered to Mombasa port – CIF.

 

The following are the modes of payment we accepts:

1) Transfer to our Barclays Bank UK account indicated on invoices. (Please note that we officially communicate any bank details changes to our customers to mitigate against fraud).

2) Bank guarantee, direct deposit/cheques (issued by UK banks ONLY).

Shipping on appointment
We are at your service to act as your broker in shipping your dream car from any UK dealer/owner. On appointment, we will perform background checks, quality inspection, ascertain that the car is not stolen, or has an “accident” history. Upon the price negotiation/purchase, we will facilitate payments and book with shipping line UK shipping to your country of choice.

 

Vehicle Shipping to Mombasa, Kenya
Out of Tilbury / Sheerness and Immingham Ports, we shall move into “self-driven” vessels/ships alternatively, can also ship loaded in freight containers onto container vessels.

Either service has a 28-day transit period ex subject ports from loading date to Mombasa.

 

Kenya Customs Documentation
All declaration at the border on import cargo/goods are undertaken through a licensed broker/forwarder. (Details available on request to the Kenya Revenue Authority or the Forwarders Association – KIFWA)

 

Below are the minimum documents required to facilitate an efficient declaration;

 

Important note: The importer is responsible for local customs documentation and clearance along with the associated taxes/related costs associated with the Kenyan Government regulations/freight forwarders fees/guidelines.

 

NOTE:

  1. All MUST be in English language and or with the relevant translation to English.
  2. All MUST be in their original form as issued by the origin authority.
